Monday Made It and Failed It!

*Warning to Experienced Bread Bakers*
You might want to avert your eyes and skip down to the Monday Made Portion!
Small children and animals probably won't care, and are most likely not reading this post.

Despite the fact that my bread did not quite make it, I am going to share my failed recipe on Christy's Teaching Tales Along the Yellow Brick Road for her Eating, Drinking, and Linking party.
First of all, I feel it is important to tell you that this is my first attempt at bread.
I got the recipe from Food.com.  It said, "Couldn't Be Easier Slow Cooker Bread."  It lied.

The only substitution that I made was applesauce for olive oil - my olive oil on the shelf was in a zombie state and needed to be put to rest.
And I added walnuts.
And I didn't have parchment paper, so I used non-stick foil.
And I didn't put it in a souffle dish - because that seemed stupid, a dish inside a crock pot???
So, it came out a little too done on the bottom - okay,  it was burned.   Maybe I should have put the dough in a stupid dish inside the crock pot with parchment paper (or was that the other recipe I looked at?).  The top and middle were pretty good, but I doubt Paul Hollywood would have approved. Stupid bread...oh it is on bread, like Donkey Kong!  I will conquer you!
Now for the Monday Made It portion of the post with Tara over at 4th Grade Frolics.
This is a linky that keeps me on track with my summer planning and crafting.  I like it:).   Nothing to report for my "home" made it unless you want to see pictures of the totally cleaned out garage and defrosted freezer?  No?  Strange, my garage looks awesome:).  Actually, if any SoCal bloggers or followers out there are interested in a large (8ft long?) bathroom mirror, let me know!  We can arrange a pick up - free!  Or maybe I should save it for my next "Giveaway.?"

My school made it is not mind blowing or incredible, but absolutely necessary!
These were my old folders.  When I say old, I mean at least 20 years old.  When I made them, everybody was like "genius!"  Now, I see different versions of them all over Pinterest so there must be quite a few geniuses out there who came up with a similar idea.  I don't feel quite as smart anymore.
These folders held all my worksheets, rubrics and assessments for the week.  I kept them in a file holder near my desk.  Also, kids knew where to find their work if they were absent.  I cleaned them out or shifted the contents every Friday.  Since I like to run things off in big chunks (like a quarter at a time), they were wonderful.
They did not work as well this last year because we changed our printing service to a digital one - long story, but now there is no way to identify what is in the shrink wrapped packed when you get it back.  Now we have to open it.  So not only were these sweethearts showing their age, but I needed a slightly improved system.

There are three for each day of the week.  I don't give out homework on a daily basis anymore, and most of the time it is not a worksheet, so the HW ones were being used to store next week's assignments.  With three folders, I have it set up for at least 3 weeks in advance (and they only came in packs of 3).  The packets for the following weeks will go in the closet in a tub.

I was going use the pretty flower print folders that I got at Big Lots, but I realized that the old ones worked because the days stood out.  The letters are set just a bit above the folder so that they stand out.  When the temperature falls below a 100 degrees for a day or so, I will take them down to Lakeshore and laminate them.  The others lasted 20 years or so, these should do me until I retire!  I will leave them to Lauren (Life in Middle School) when I ride off into the sunset on my scooter.

Make sure you link up with Christy's Teaching Tales Along the Yellow Brick Road for her Eating, Drinking, and Linking party, and Tara over at 4th Grade Frolics for Monday Made It!.
